Richard L. Carrión is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Popular, Inc., a publicly traded financial holding company. Banco Popular, a wholly owned subsidiary of Popular, Inc., is Puerto Rico's leading depository institution. After obtaining a Bachelor's Degree from Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and receiving a Master’s Degree in Information Services from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Mr. Carrión joined Banco Popular in 1976. From the outset, the young entrepreneur developed and implemented innovative initiatives while driving the bank's growth and profitability.
Cristina Lambert, a 32-year veteran in the telecom industry in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, was named president and chief executive officer of Puerto Rico Telephone in 2003 when Verizon Communications had a controlling stake in the company. Following the acquisition of PRT by América Móvil S.A. de C.V. in March of 2007, she entered into a management agreement with the new company for one year, followed by a consulting agreement until the present. Lambert has been involved in 5 mergers and acquisitions during her telecom careers and credits her ability to manage change, to work in various corporate and ethnic cultures and to lead an organization during times of uncertainty, for her success during the various transitions.
David Efron founded the firm in 1979. He was born in Havana, Cuba on November 16, 1952. Graduate of the University of Miami (BA 1973) and the Interamerican University Law School (Juris Doctor 1975), with graduate law school work at the University of Miami Law School. In 1979, at age 26, in his first jury trial he scored a victory over federal prosecutors. Six months later, on another case, he won his first federal appeal in First Circuit Court of Appeals, reversing the federal district court on a commercial litigation case.
Dr. Dennis Alicea Rodríguez was appointed Chancellor of the Universidad del Turabo (UT) in May 1993, becoming the sixth chancellor of this higher learning institution. He has a Bachelor in Arts (Magna Cum Laude) with a major in Political Science and Philosophy of the University of Puerto Rico, a Master in Philosophy (Summa Cum Laude) with specialization in Philosophy of Science and Epistemology of the University of Puerto Rico and a Ph.D. in Philosophy with specialization in Philosophy of Science and Epistemology of Brown University.
Antonio Martorel was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He has been given the pleasure to draw, paint, record, write, done theater, radio, television, film, dance, environmental facilities and unclassifiable structures. Martorell is the resident artist of the Colegio Universitario de Cayey. His workshops are located at Ponce and San Juan, Puerto Rico, and in El Barrio in New York. His work has been exhibited and awarded locally and internationally, and is in private and public collections.
